A smoking ban in public places is to be introduced on 1 March in the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.
The ban forbids people from lighting up at government offices, hospitals, schools, parks and shopping centres, among other places.

Should laws prohibit smoking around children?
"Starting Jan. 1, Texas will restrict smoking in foster parents' homes at all times and in cars when children are present ... Vermont, Washington and other states and counties already prohibit foster parents from smoking around children in their homes and cars," Emily Bazar reports.
"Arkansas and Louisiana passed laws this year forbidding anyone from smoking in cars carrying young children," Bazar writes. "Courts are ordering smoke-free environments in custody and visitation disputes."
